Culturally, the human perception of color begins with three primary colors: red, black and white.These colors are the most basic to humans of all the colors, and all societies seem to recognize them and their symbolism, even if no other colors are recognized as important. These three colors are so basic and primal, even the words for them are similar across language families.

  • Red commonly symbolizes life and blood.
  • Black most commonly symbolizes separation, slavery, submission and death.
  • White symbolizes purity and "all that is good." 

 These colors are aposematic meaning used as warning colors in nature.
